The Wolf Professor - Lilith Stone

Image
Charlie has just accepted a job assisting a werewolf professor with research for his next book, much to her mothers chagrin, but it’s a great step forward in her career and she may have been harbouring a bit of a crush on him since she heard him lecture at her college. Professor Max Hunt is working on his next book and needs some help. Hiring Charlie was the perfect idea, but he thought she was a guy, it would have been safer for him if she was a guy.  Max has been suppressing his wolf. He doesn’t meet with his pack, distances himself from everything and everyone that could trigger his true nature and keeps himself solitary for a good reason. His mother taught him that was the right thing to do, that he was better than the feral animals he shared a species with. He didn’t have to drag himself down to their level.  As soon as they meet, Max can feel his wolf, as well as other things, stand to attention, and due to the wolfy sense of smell can tell sh...

Pet Project: Collared by the Vampire - Bethany Baker

As soon as I started reading Pet Project: Collared by the Vampire I was immediately reminded of a book that went somewhat “viral” back in the early 2000’s. While “The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl” was non-fiction, this novella seemed, to me, to be just as real and vivid, and if it weren’t for the vampire and shifter characters, it could well be.  After Sym loses her demanding job, she has to take temp work to help ends meet. One of these jobs seems too easy, so she applies immediately. She is to serve drinks and canapes at a private event in one of the city’s “exclusive” clubs, dressed up in some feline accessories. There she meets Ree and Bura as they perform together and she is completely transfixed by them both. It seems they feel the same way as she is given an invitation to meet with them again.  While on the surface this is a fun exploration into bdsm culture and pet play, it goes much deeper than I expected. While yes, the spice is burn...

The Light of Blood - Jade Christy

Vampires can come and play in the sunshine now, thanks to an invention by Cassandra Burke. Scientist, scholar, extremely hot and expert level “not like the other girls”, Cassandra has devoted her life to all things vampy, and when she is invited to study newly discovered vampire texts she's hopping on the next flight to the ancient city of Nivara. Meanwhile in vampire society, things are not well. While the American vamps have embraced Cassandra’s “Lumiere” formula, the Europeans, always a stickler for tradition, are not so pleased. Vampires are the night, power, blood, not prancing about with lesser species. While some do take advantage of being able to see the sun and live a “normal” life, anti-Lumiere factions have risen and things are getting violent. While Cassandra works on the old texts, falls in love with Nivara’s regent and attends parties and council meetings, those factions begin to plot and act. From the start I was thinking this book maybe wasn’t right ...

In a desperate attempt to escape loan sharks who are no longer very open to conversation, Cherry, spotting a recruitment poster calling for women to travel to the planet Zabria Prinar One to become wives of the inhabitants, finds her one way ticket off the planet and away from danger. Being a bride to a stranger has to be better than what she was dealing with now.  Stoic, silent Silar has been living on Zabria Prinar One since he was a child. A penal colony for young offenders (those too young to work in the mines) he has accepted his lot and worked hard on his ranch. When the opportunity comes along to claim a wife, he’s unsure, what would he even do with a wife, but accepts anyway. Even though human women do not have a tail. How would she cope? They meet and are instantly smitten with each other, but Silar doesn’t know that what he’s feeling for Cherry is completely normal, and Cherry is wondering why her new husband keeps running away from her. Miscom...
